Cannot Install a New Workstation on the HeadMaster Server

When installing a new workstation to the HeadMaster server, these errors display:

Cannot access \\servername\Hmaster\setuphm.exe

Could not initialize installation. H:\setuphm.exe.

The administrative user can add a test folder to the mapped drive without issues, but the system cannot find the file.

  • Versions Affected: Multiple Versions

The user groups set for each user on the server folder does not respect the user groups on the workstation. This means users cannot access the setuphm.exe file.

  1. Add the user group to the server folder and grant full rights.
  2. Confirm that the user "everyone" is listed as a user group for the Hmaster folder's security tab and has full rights.
    You should be able to log into the workstation
  3. Run the setuphm.exe.
  4. Sign in as a Headmaster administrator and view your data and the student list.
  5. To prevent future issues, rename the first data folder location on the server.
